5 Genius Rooms Where Pantone’s Colors Of The Year Come Together

It’s here! Pantone’s Color of the Year for 2016 was recently announced, and left the design community stunned. Not only were the pastel shades a retreat from the bright and saturated hues of year’s past, but Pantone picked not one, but two colors for the first time. Rose Quartz and Serenity are the shades that will shape the look of the home in 2016.

“Joined together Rose Quartz and Serenity demonstrate an inherent balance between a warmer embracing rose tone and the cooler tranquil blue, reflecting connection and wellness as well as a soothing sense of order and peace,” said Leatrice Eiseman, Executive Director of the Pantone Color Institute.

The two shades have a nostalgic feel to them, a throwback to 1980s style and the days of Miami Vice where cool pastels reigned supreme. Here are five inspiring ways to give this color palette a 21st Century refresh in 2016.

Studiopepe in Milan paired the two shades in a bright and airy room inspired by Palm Springs. Walls in Rose Quartz form a neutral backdrop to bright blue chairs which take on a bold look in this seating area. A splash of green completes this soft color palette.

Rose Quartz and Serenity play well together when mixed among other pastel shades. Here, a cool palette of rose, icy blue, peach and lilac come together to create a space built for repose.

Pantone’s colors of the year come together in the large scale artwork in this living room. Art is definitely a great way to bring these shades home. For a cool, sophisticated look, break up the blue and pink with warm tones of cream and camel for a grown up feel.

Look for unique wallpaper in shades of Rose Quartz and Serenity to bring the two shades into your interior. You can continue the color story with furnishings and textiles, like the soft pink settee in this living area with a bright turquoise cushion.

Don’t let pink have all the fun! Serenity may be a cool color, but it can have a striking impact on the walls of any space. Married with a few rosy accessories the shade really pops. For a bit of contrast with these soft pastels, bring home a little bit of navy blue and mustard yellow.
